2025 BYC Raiders Spring Flag Football Program

Overview
BYC Raiders will be participating in the YCJFA Youth Flag Football Program for the Spring 2025 season. Teams being assigned and practices will begin in March. Games will begin in April. Games will be played 5-on-5 and will last approximately 1 hour (2–20-minute halves with halftime and limited clock stoppage). We will have practices at least 2 weeknights per week. Practice will be at least 1 hour (maybe more, if needed). Games will be on Saturdays or Sundays. Final practice schedules will be distributed once teams have been assigned. The game schedules come out from the league in late March.

Eligible Players
The Flag Football Program is open to boys and girls who are age 5-14 as of January 1, 2025, and who meet one of the following residence criteria:
  1. Currently reside in the York City School District; or
  2.  Do not reside in the York City School District, but BYC Raiders is the closest participating program to the player’s home (for example, players residing in North York are Central School District, but are eligible to participate with BYC Raiders).

Timeline
  • January 1 - Registration Opens
  • February 28 -Last Day to Register
  • March 1 or 2 - Player Evaluation Combine (TBA)
  • March 2 or 3 - Team Draft (Coaches Only) and Team Announcements
  • March 10 - Practices Begin
  • Early April - Regular Season Starts
  • Early June - Playoffs and Championships

Costs
Registration fee is $130.00 per player. The registration fee includes the player's personalized jersey with name and number for them to keep. For families with multiple players, there is a $10 off discount for siblings, which should be automatically applied at checkout. 

Team Information
Teams will be fielded in each of the following age divisions:
  • 6U - Players ages 5 and 6 as of January 1, 2025
  • 8U - Players ages 7 and 8 as of January 1, 2025
  • 10U - Players ages 9 and 10 as of January 1, 2025
  • 12U - Players ages 11 and 12 as of January 1, 2025
  • 14U - Players ages 13 and 14 as of January 1, 2025
Teams will be comprised of 5-10 players, BYC will try to have as many teams as possible in each division. This will depend on how many registrants we get.

At all age levels, players will be evaluated via our combine to provide coaches with as much information as possible when selecting their teams. All players should plan to attend the combine. Failure to attend the combine does not mean your player cannot participate, but it may impact their team assignment as the player will be assigned based solely on whatever information available at the time. Following the combine, BYC coaches will draft individual teams, with teams at each level being drafted with the intent of having balanced teams within each age level and division. Players may not request to be paired together and no requests for assignment to a specific team or coach will be honored. Other than siblings wishing to play on the same team, there will be absolutely no exceptions to this policy.

Coaching Information
We are currently looking for Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches. No experience is necessary, but general knowledge of the game is helpful. If you are looking for something fun to do a few nights a week and a couple of hours on the weekends, please consider becoming a part of the BYC Family as a coach. While there is not an extensive review process, you will have to complete a PA State Background Check, and a PA Child Abuse Clearance. Referees
Unlike other leagues, our league does not rely on our coaches to referee games. Paid referees are assigned by the league, and they are actively recruiting individuals interested in referee positions. As stated above, games last about 1 hour. Referees are paid $20 per game. This is a perfect position for kids (16+) that are looking for a part-time job, or anyone who might just be looking to make a few extra $$$. If you think this is something for you, please reach out to James Welch, WYBC Football Commissioner, @ (717)841-6552. He can direct you to the certification class that begins in February.

2025 Tackle Football Registration Information

Every player MUST live within the York City School District. Every player MUST attend one of the York City School District schools, a charter school, cyber school, or homeschool.

Returning players will need:
*Registration form 
*Proof of school (report card, letter from school with child name and school name)
*Sports physical for this season
*Signed Code of Conduct for BYC and YCYFA

New players will need:
*Copies of birth certificate, proof of school (report card, welcome letter or official school letterhead with child’s name stating they are currently enrolled)
*Sports physical for this season
*Registration form
*Signed Code of Conduct for BYC and YCYFA

Cost of football registration is $205.00 (NEW THIS SEASON!! The registration price will include a personalized jersey for each player to keep at the end of the season)
Early Bird Discount Price is $185.00 thru April 30, 2025. Will go to full registration price after this date.
Discounts will be given to families with multiple registered players.

All children who complete registration will be fitted for equipment, NO equipment will be issued without completed registration and payment in full. All equipment, including uniform must be returned at the end of the football season. Parents are responsible for the costs of any equipment not returned.

2024/2025 Basketball Registration Information

New & Returning Players will need to tryout on their specific tryout dates. Once accepted, you will need:
*Registration form
*Signed Code of Conduct 
(If you did not tryout or were not accepted, please do not register)

Cost of basketball registration is $125 (this must be paid within 2 weeks of your players tryout/acceptance date)

Every player will receive a uniform to wear throughout the basketball season. This uniform must be handed in once the season is over. Parents will be responsible for the cost of any uniform not returned.
